Privacy. In one page.

We collect the minimum we need to do the work. We don't sell anything to anyone. We use Stripe for payments, Plausible (cookieless) for traffic analytics, and Calendly for scheduling. Below is the full version.

01 — Who we are

Dept. of Web is operated by Dept. of Web, LLC, a Texas limited liability company, headquartered in Houston, TX. References to "we," "us," and "our" mean Dept. of Web. For questions about this policy, contact joseph@deptofweb.co.

02 — What we collect

We collect information you give us directly when you book a call, request access, subscribe, or email us:

  • Name and email address (for communication and account management).
  • Company URL and project details (when you describe what you want built).
  • Billing information processed entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.

We also collect a minimal amount of information automatically when you visit the site:

  • Aggregate, anonymized traffic data via Plausible Analytics. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect any personal data or cross-site identifiers. Read their privacy approach ↗
  • Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request path) retained for security and abuse prevention.

03 — How we use it

  • To deliver the work you've asked us to do.
  • To communicate with you about your subscription, requests, invoices, and account.
  • To improve the site and our process. We do not use your information for advertising.
  • To comply with our legal obligations (tax records, etc.).

04 — Who we share it with

We share information only with the third-party services we use to operate. These are:

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or other commercial third parties.

05 — How long we keep it

Account and billing records are retained for as long as you are an active customer, and for up to 7 years after cancellation as required for tax and accounting purposes. Project files, repository access, and design assets are retained while we deliver the work and for a reasonable period afterward unless you ask us to delete them.

06 — Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, request correction of anything inaccurate, request deletion (subject to our legal record-keeping obligations), or opt out of communications at any time. Email joseph@deptofweb.co with your request.

If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively. We honor those rights regardless of where you live.

07 — Security

We use industry-standard transport-layer encryption (HTTPS) for all communication with this site, and rely on the security practices of our processors (Stripe, Vercel, Calendly) for data they handle on our behalf. No system is perfectly secure; if you have concerns, contact us.

08 — Children

Dept. of Web is a B2B service. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

09 — Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify active customers by email. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
